                                     Hoechst Celanese Class Room
                           Our guest speaker will be Dr. George Fields.  The title 
                          of his sppech will be: 
                                    "When the Tide Turned in the American Revolution", 
                                    which was in the South Carolina Upstate and includes the 
                                    battles and skirmishes which took place in Spartanburg
                                    County.   Due to bad weather - Dr. Fields is being rescheduled.
          February 19, 2008 7:30 p.m.  this is a TUESDAY night - Hoechst Celanese
                                   Classroom, 
Spartanburg  Main Library,
                                   Dr. Doyle Boggs, Executive Director of Marketing and
                                   Communications at Wofford College will speak to us on
                                   "A Tale of 4 Spartanburgs -- Change and Continuity
                                   
in our Local History".

          March 13, 2008  7:00 p.m. Hoechst Celanese Class Room  at Spartanburg
                                  Main  Library

                                  Chief Gene Norris, Chief of the PAIA Lower Eastern
                                  Cherokee  Nation SC will  speak to us of
                                  "The Invisible People".
                                  He has promised a special guest to entertain us!

                                  Main  Library

                                  Dr. Kathy Cann, Professor of History at Spartanburg
                                  Methodist College and author of the book "Common Ties"
                                  will speak to us on the history of S partanburg Methodist
                                  College.

          May 08, 2008 7:00 p.m. Hoechst Celanese Class Room  at Spartanburg
                                  Main  Library

                                  Dr. Mellissa Walker Professor of History at Converse
                                  College will speak to us of 
"The South Carolina Farm
                                    Wife in the Late Twentieth Century:  New Roles,
                                    New Horizons."

                                  Main  Library

                                  Mr. Scott Withow from the Cowpens National
                                   Battlefield will speak to us of  participants
                                   in the battle with emphasis on the genealogy
                                   and history of some of these participants - both
